Coach education

The Central Region Junior Soccer Association is a member organisation of Football Federation Tasmania which run all the coach education sessions within Tasmania

There are four types of coach education sessions that are relevant to coaches within our region

1) Grass roots coaching certificate, which is a 3 hour session for beginning coaches

2) Junior coaching certificate, which is the first major coaching certificate available and is a 12 hour course.

3) Youth coaching certificate, these courses are usually held over two weekends during the off season

4) Rooball update sessions, which are not formal courses, but 90 minute sessions taken by qualified and experienced coaches where you are able to get coaching ideas and ask questions to help you to become better coaches.

The list of coaching courses available from FFT at present is available by clicking here

Football Federation Tasmania also gives each region certain amount of coaching credits, which the region distributes to our member clubs. Please contact your club to see if these may be available to you, this can be done either before of after you enrol in a course

The central region also has a number of development officers who will visit schools and clubs. Even though these development officers will often take the training session, the main purpose is to give the normal coach ideas, so please talk to the development officer, say what areas you are having difficulty with, ask questions, be involved. They are not there to give you the afternoon off.
The central region also runs a regional development program for under 9 to under 12 kids who want a more intensive training environment. The coaches of these programs are also a good source of assistance and ideas. Most of these coaches are very willing to talk to you
The Central Region Junior Soccer Association will be running a series of coach update sessions.

These are being held on Tuesday nights in the Taroona High School Gym, 6:30pm to 8:00pm starting in late April
